INVEST IN IZMIR AND ITS CRAZY PROJECT “ÇANDARLI PORT”
Northern Aegean Çandarlı Port shall be the largest port of Mediterranean Sea and among the top 10 largest ports of the world.!!!!!!!!!!
Izmir and Its Crazy Project “Çandarlı Port”
Izmir will lay the foundation for its own ‘crazy project’ the Çandarlı Port. Projected to be one of the world’s largest ten ports, the port will be able to dock six mega ships at the same time. In addition, with this investment, Turkey’s container capacity will increase threefold.
Port will operate according to a build-operate-transfer model. With the capacity for six mega ships to dock simultaneously, the new port will become the face of Turkey for Europe, while also harboring a container center that will triple the nation’s current capacity.
The Çandarlı Port will be connected to both the highways and the railways and when it goes into effect; it will have three times the capacity of Turkey’s current total capacity of 57 million tons of containers. The Çandarlı Port alone will have a 120 million ton capacity for containers.
The Ministry of Transportation felt the need to build a new port due to the limited capacity of the current Izmir Port due to alluvium affecting the water’s depth and therefore decided to build the new mega Çandarlı Port.
The construction of Candarli Port Container Terminal (north Aegean) will be contracted by Ministry of Transport, Maritime Affairs and Communications, General Directorate of Infraestructure Investments within the framework of BOT (Build-Operate and Transfer Model).
Candarli Port Project was prioritized as a hub-port because will serve to Aegean region and will be hub for transit cargo to Black sea countries.
The first part of the project has constructed by the Turkish State and the cost was 165 million euro. The capacity of the port will be 2 million TEU in first phase and 4 million in the fourth phase.
BOT investment will include made up-ground, buildings, warehouses, storage areas, railway terminal, docks, dock crane, rubber wheeled crane, handling equipment, ship service boats, tow boats and etc…
The Environmental Impact Assessment of the Project was approved on 17th March 2005 and the deadline for submission is 5th November, 2013.
Multi-billion dollar Çandarlı port project boosts local land prices
The projected construction of the Northern Aegean Container Port, which will be one of the top 10 largest ports in the world once it is completed, has increased the value of the surrounding land up to 15-fold.
The Transportation Ministry will shortly organize a tender to find a company to construct the port under the "build-operate-transfer" model. It will have a capacity of 943,000 20-foot equivalent units (TEU).
The 4.5-million-square-meter plot of land on which the port will be constructed belongs in full to National Real Estate, the public institution that holds the real estate assets of the state and markets and operates them. A majority of the nearby land has changed hands, especially in the last couple of months. http://www.istanbulpropertysales.com/
